FIXimate provides the capability of viewing all versions of FIX in an interactive browser based environment. Users can view messages, components, fields, and datatypes.
FIXimate was created in Summer 2000 by Kosta Zenelis, Denis McConalogue, and Peter White of Goldman Sachs. The name stands for FIX interactive message and tag explorer Tool. Peter, representing Goldman, was serving as the Co-chair of the FIX Global Technical Committee at that time. FIXimate arose out of a desire to be able to access and navigate the FIX specification faster. FIXimate was donated to FPL so that it could be supported, maintained, and enhanced by the organization going forward.

Kevin Houstoun assumed maintenance and created the second version of FIXimate during the release of FIX 4.4. Kevin was representing Citi within FPL and serving as Co-chair of the Global Technical Committee (GTC). Kevin pioneered and donated the FIX Repository as part of the effort to release FIX 4.4. Kevin also created repository versions for FIX version 4.0 - 4.3. Kevin rewrote the FIXimate to be generated from the FIX Repository. At that time Kevin also converted the generation code and output to comply with W3C Internet standards, such as XSLT and XML. Kevin, of Rapid Addition Ltd., continues to contribute to the repository and FIXimate initiatives in his role as Co-chair of the GTC currently representing HSBC.

FIXimate v3.x is a significant rewrite from FIXimate v2.0. Most of the changes are internal. However, several new views and the ability to search for a field by tag number and message types by MsgType are added. It was developed by Phil Oliver and Jim Northey of LaSalle Technology Group, LLC. FIXimate v3.x is generated from the FIX Repository using XSLT 2.0.
